In My Mailbox (46)

Sunday October 31, 2010
In My Mailbox hosted by The Story Siren and inspired by Alea @ Pop Culture Junkie is a way to share what new books you get each week.  They can be books you borrowed from the library, bought, traded, won or received for review.

Books for review:

Dash & Lily's Book of Dares by Rachel Cohn & David Levithan
The Trouble with Half a Moon by Danette Vigilante
Sparrow Road by Sheila O'Connor
The Coming of the Dragon by Rebecca Barnhouse
The Golden Fleece (Looking Glass Library) by Padraic Colum
The Phoenix and the Carpet (Looking Glass Library) by E. Nesbit

I purchased about $500 books this week with my Scholastic dollars (woo-hoo!) but I'll just show you what I bought a Barnes and Noble yesterday with some donation money :)

The Art of Calligraphy by David Harris
Little Brother by Cory Doctorow
Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld
The Game by Monica Hughes
Jay's Journal by Anonymous

I'm building up my Dystopian collection for the library. With the success of the Hunger Games series I have kids asking me for books similar to them so I created a new Dystopian section which has been HUGELY popular (sometimes its all about gimmicks to get kids to read!) I'm always taking recommendations so if you have a Dystopian reccommendation leave me a comment!

Happy Reading and Happy Halloween!

I had that dystopian idea too. My students are also loving them. I think I still have reserves on Mockingjay. My mailboxes are here and here. Happy reading!
