Goodreads Summary: Acclaimed YA author C. K. Kelly Martin offers a sexy, soulful story of one confused boy, two girls, and all the complications that ensue in this romantic feel-good love story that celebrates friendship, first love, first lust, and second chances.

Sixteen-year-old Mason Rice is having the night of his life. He's just delivered an incredible performance in the school play, basked in celebratory afterglow vibes at the party of the year, and lost his virginity to one of his best friends—the gorgeous but previously unobtainable Kat Medina. His dreams are coming true, and the future looks golden.

Unfortunately, Kat sees things very differently. Crossing the friendship line was a big mistake, and all she wants is to forget it and move on, even if that means forgetting Mason altogether. What's a guy to do? Well, if you're Mason, you hang your hopes on the first attractive twenty-three-year-old you cross paths with. At first Mason wonders if he's imagining the chemistry . . . until Colette invites him over to her apartment. Suddenly Mason's living in a whole new world.

Review: There is always something so sweet about best friends falling in love...isn't that the way it should be? A friendship that blossoms into love? Well, it sounds great but sometimes it doesnt' work out so well as Mason finds out after a spontaneous evening of passion with his best friend Kat.  Their night of drunken lust has made things awkward and Kat's response is to basically ignore Mason which drives him insane but also drives him right into the arms of someone who WILL pay attention to him...Collette.

The would-be love triangle seems very genuine and not glorified by Mason in any way. He is desperately in love with Kat but his feelings for Collette seem very genuine too. He is conscious of the questionable morality of is "forbidden" relationship but over and above their lusty relationship a genuine affection has formed.

In addition to his love life Mason is also dealing with some issues at home. Namely his Dad's girlfriend and her two daughters who have just moved in. The younger one is no problem but trying to get along with a thirteen year-old girl has Mason genuinely perplexed and frustrated.

I really enjoyed this well written story. The author has an obvious talent for voicing the angsty, frustrated teenage boy who has no idea what women are thinking. The complexities of sex and emotions and how obviously unprepared teens are to deal with it comes across without even trying. There are no plotted, romantic love scenes here...let me just say they came across as very realistic.

Definitely for high school readers and above. This will be one of those books that will spread by word-of-mouth amongst the high school reading crowd, especially for lovers of a sexy romance and the bittersweet story of first love.
