From the authors website:
As the popular darling of the junior class and heiress to the five-star Monrovi Inn empire, Kate has both everything and nothing. She's bored with school and life...until she locks eyes with Caleb at a school dance.
Caleb is new to Kate's exclusive prep school, and it's clear he doesn't fit in. In fact, he and his dad work in maintenance for Kate's father. And while Caleb knows better than to spend time with the boss's daughter, it seems that every time he tries to back away, something pulls him right back in.
When their parents demand that they are to stay away from each other, they learn of a fight between their families that occurred more than fifty years ago. It's a mystery Kate doesn't understand...but a legacy Caleb has endured his entire life.
Review: As a huge fan of author Cindy Martinusen-Coloma I am once again in love with her latest release...Caleb and Kate is a modern day Romeo and Juliet without all the death and disappointment.
Kate has it all, money, friends and a loving family. She knows she's lucky and that most people in this world don't have all the luxuries that she and her friends enjoy. Her best friend Monica and other girls at her school talk about boys and money all the time...an unspoken rule: don't date boys without money. When it comes to love its money, car and good-looking...in that order. But Kate wants more than that and she knows that God has a better plan for her.
Still, Kate has a hard time believing in "the one" as in "oh, yeah he's the one"...even her parents who love each other don't fit that definition. Is it a myth romanticized over the years in poetry and stories that lead people to find something they can never really have? Kate isn't sure and went she meets Caleb, things really get topsy -turvy!
From the moment they meet neither of them can deny the immediate attraction they have for each other and things only progress from there. With an old family feud determined to pull them apart Caleb and Kate turn to their faith in God to keep them together even when it seems destiny has other ideas.
One of the reasons I really love Martinusen-Coloma's books is that she can infuse her stories with faith and goodness without even being a little preachy. Her characters faith in God and family flow naturally and are a part of the story line like any other book. The stories are also very timely and make it easy for most teens and young adults to relate to. Caleb + Kate is a very romantic story of two teens who feel very passionate about one another, who want to make good choices and who see themselves together forever. Adults may know the odds are against them but any teen who feels this way will tell you different!
Another must read by Cindy Martinusen-Coloma! Appropriate for ages 13 and up .
