Forest Born (The Books of Bayern, Book 4)

by Shannon Hale
Release date September 15, 2009
Rin is sure that something is wrong with her…something really bad. Something that is keeping her from feeling at home in the Forest homestead where she’s lived all her life. Something that is keeping her from trusting herself with anyone at all. When her brother Razo returns from the city for a visit, she accompanies him to the palace, hoping that she can find peace away from home.

But war has come to Bayern again, and Rin is compelled to join the queen and her closest allies—magical girls Rin thinks of as the Fire Sisters—as they venture into the Forest toward Kel, the land where someone seems to want them all dead. Many beloved Bayern characters reappear in this story, but it is Rin’s own journey of discovering how to balance the good and the bad in herself that drives this compelling adventure.

Book four follows up the third book in the series (River Secrets) which all about the story of Razo. In Forest Born we learn all about Rin, Razo's little sister.

If you love the previous books in the series then you will be happy because all your favorite characters are here: Isi, Dasha, Enna, and Razo together again for an exciting new adventure!

Each of the Fire Sisters (Isi, Dasha, and Enna) as Rin refers to them, has a special power....what about Rin? She feels a special closeness to the trees because she is, after all, forest born. But there is something else, something that is bothering Rin. Is there something inside her that is bad, something she can do that will only hurt people? When she meets Selia whose power of people-speaking has driven her nearly insane with power, Rin is sure she is headed down the same path.

Another exciting, well written adventure by author Shannon Hale! There is some mild violence but nothing over PG-13...best for middle school and up!
