My Soul to Take

Available now!
She doesn't see dead people, but…She senses when someone near her is about to die. And when that happens, a force beyond her control compels her to scream bloody murder. Literally.
Kaylee just wants to enjoy having caught the attention of the hottest guy in school. But a normal date is hard to come by when Nash seems to know more about her need to scream than she does. And when classmates start dropping dead for no apparent reason, only Kaylee knows who'll be next…Urban fantasy and Paranormal romance seems to be all the rage right now with vampires, faeries, zombies etc. and just when you think you've heard it all...wait! In My Soul to Take we are introduced to the Bean Sidhe (more commonly referred to as Banshee) of Irish folklore.
From the very first page I was totally drawn into the engaging storyline. The author does a great job of keeping the reader hanging on every detail of Kaylee's terrifying circumstances...why is she sensing the death of her classmates? Why has one of THE most popular boys in school suddenly started to take interest in her? These are just a few of the way bizarre things that Kaylee is dealing with.
I'm not giving a lot of plot details here on purpose. A key part of the enjoyment for me when reading this book was that I didn't know a whole lot about it. All I'm going to say is that as a librarian I read A LOT (yes really) and so I've learned to recognize a plot formula and I can sometimes see the ending of the book a mile away. Well...all I'm going to say is, yea...I didn't even come close this time! When I finished the book I did the one thing I always do when I really, really liked it...I immediately went online to find out when the next one is due to be published so I can torture myself, but I was really happy to find out that the next book, My Soul to Save, is actually due to be released in January 2010!
A sure hit for paranormal romance/urban fantasy lovers! Perfectly suited for middle school and up.

I got this one ALA and I'm looking forward to reading it, especially since my teens can't get enough of the paranormal. Thanks for the review!
