Fairy Tale by Cyn Balog

June 19, 2009
Morgan Sparks has always known that she and her boyfriend, Cam, are made for each other. But when Cam’s cousin Pip comes to stay with the family, Cam seems depressed. Finally Cam confesses to Morgan what’s going on: Cam is a fairy. The night he was born, fairies came down and switched him with a healthy human boy. Nobody expected Cam to live, and nobody expected his biological brother, heir to the fairy throne, to die. But both things happened, and now the fairies want Cam back to take his rightful place as Fairy King.

Morgan and Cam have been best friends for as long as she can remember. He's always been the popular one and good at everything he does, especially football. Morgan has always considered herself somewhat average, pretty but not gorgeous, smart but not a brain, but there is one very special thing about her...Morgan can see the future. Give her a minute and she can tell you what you want to know: Will I get into the college of my dreams? Will I marry my dream guy? But for some reason she can't see Cam's future no matter how hard she tries.

Just as Morgan and Cam are planning their huge 16th birthday party, which they are celebrating together, things starting going awry. Cam is acting weird, and is he shrinking or is it just Morgans imagination? When Pip shows up about the same time and the whole story unfolds about Cam being a fairy, Morgan is determined to keep them from taking him away. They are meant to be together forever...aren't they?

Fairy stories are all the rage right now in fantasy fiction and Fairy Tale fits right in. Morgan is a fun and likable MC, her humor and sarcasm kept me snickering through out the whole story. The supporting cast of characters: her loyal yet clueless friend Eden, Cam's mysterious "cousin" Pip, her goofy parents (I love that her dad is a total soap opera freak) and even the scary fairy Dawn (shes the one in charge of taking Cam back to fairyland) keep this story rolling. A twist in the plot will keep you guessing about Morgan and Cam's fate until the very end!

Fantasy lovers from middle school on up will definitely find a favorite here! Get it, read it!

I love fairies myself so I won't turn away a book about fairies although the same could be said for vampires.
